The first is finding a base for yourself — searching through layout libraries to find a war base, farm base, or trophy base that fits your TH level and goals. The second is finding an enemy's base — identifying a specific layout you've seen (in war, CWL, a YouTube video, a stream) so you can copy it or find attack strategies against it.

Both are important. Players who only focus on their own defense miss out on the counter-attacking intelligence that comes from identifying enemy bases. And players who only scout enemy bases without upgrading their own defense give away free stars in clan wars.

The meta as of early 2026 is heavily influenced by Root Rider combinations, Blizzard spell setups, and high-level Hero Equipment. Good bases in this environment typically share a few traits: strong anti-funnel compartmentalization so troops can't easily be channeled to the core, spread-out high-HP buildings that slow Root Rider paths, and Inferno Towers positioned to punish grouped troops.

But here's the thing — the meta shifts. What's strong now will have weaknesses discovered within months as top attackers figure out the counters. The only sustainable approach is to stay current. If you copy a base without knowing why it's designed the way it is, you won't know how to adapt it when you upgrade buildings or unlock new defenses. Spend five minutes looking at the base before you copy it — understand where the compartments are, why the TH is positioned there, what attack style it's trying to defeat. That understanding compounds over time and makes you a much better base builder.
